Extensive collection of photographs showing the history of Kiveton Park & Wales. This large section contains photos that have been generously donated to the History Society for inclusion on this website. They have be separated into the Photo Archive, People's Museum and Digital Archive.
Oral Histories were an important part of the 2007 History Project. During this time, many people from Kiveton & Wales were interviewed about their life and experience of the area. This section also contains some of the other audio clips collected during the project.
See the sights of Kiveton Park & Wales in our video archive! The 2007 History Project uncovered some fascinating videos produced in the large part by local residents. Topics include the history of the area, mining, History Society events and the Kiveton pit clock.
The photo galleries are split into three sections; The Photo Archive, The People's Museum and The Digital Archive.
There are over a thousand photographs in this section showing us what it's been like to live in Kiveton Park and Wales through the years. There are photographs from down the pit, on the beach at Cleethorpes, of churches and chapels, pantomimes and carnivals, village characters and families, and much more.
We think this is something our project invented, although of course we will acknowledge it if somebody else can prove us wrong! This is our People's Museum, where you can see fascinating objects and items to do with the history of Kiveton and Wales, for the most part being held by the person who has brought the object to us.
During the course of the project we've collected hundreds of documents which provide insights into what life has been like in Kiveton Park and Wales, particularly working at the pits. Our volunteers have scanned many of these documents so they can be read on-line.
